How to set up HomeLink garage door opener in my Genesis?

Genesis HomeLink Garage Door Opener: Step-by-Step Set-Up Guide

Your Genesis vehicle has a HomeLink universal garage door opener? That’s great! Now you can do away with that ugly remote clipped to your visor. Well, at least you can after you get the HomeLink one set up.

Here’s how to set up and program the HomeLink garage door opener in your Genesis vehicle. Skip down to the bottom for the video tutorial.

Genesis HomeLink Set-Up Walkthrough

The first steps of setting your HomeLink garage door opener are exactly the same regardless of whether your garage door uses fixed code or rolling code. If have a rolling code opener or don’t know what kind you have, we recommend having a step ladder handy.

  1. Clear your HomeLink device by pressing and holding the outer two HomeLink buttons until the indicator light flashes

    This step could take up to 10 seconds

  2. Press the HomeLink button you would like to train

    The indicator light will flash slowly

  3. Hold your standard garage door remote within 1”-3” of your HomeLink buttons

  4. Press and hold the Open button on your garage door remote until the indicator light changes

    It will either turn solid or blink quickly

Your garage door might be moving after this step. If it is, wait for it to stop moving completely until you continue.

Solid HomeLink Indicator Light

If the HomeLink light turned solid, you have a fixed code garage door. To complete programming:

  1. Press and hold the HomeLink button you’re training for 2 seconds and then release
  2. Repeat the previous step up to 3 times to complete the programming

Rapid Blinking Indicator Light

If the HomeLink light started to flash, you have a rolling code garage door. To complete programming:

  1. Exit your Genesis and press your garage door motor’s Learn/Smart button
  2. Within 30 seconds, return to your Genesis
  3. Press the HomeLink button you’re training for 2 seconds and the release
  4. Repeat the previous step up to 3 times to complete the programming
